Albert Hall - Nottingham calendar_today 11 Oct 2024 at 7:30 PM place Nottingham, Tickets | Various prices.

The 30-piece Down for the Count Orchestra return to Albert Hall, Nottingham for another joyful celebration of swing music as they perform Songs from the Golden Age of Swing.

Expect to hear the music of Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Judy Garland, Nat ‘King’ Cole, Peggy Lee and many more brought back to life by some of the UK’s top jazz musicians and arrangers. The orchestra preserve and protect the musical heritage of these great artists - but this is no mere nostalgia trip, as Down for the Count perform each song in their own unmistakeable style, breathing new life into the best vintage music.

You’ll hear recreations of hits such as Come Rain or Come Shine (Arlen & Mercer/Judy Garland), You Make Me Feel So Young (Myrow & Gordon/Frank Sinatra), All The Things You Are (Kern & Hammerstein/Ella Fitzgerald) alongside original arrangements of jazz standards written by the orchestra’s principal conductor Mike Paul-Smith.

The Down for the Count Orchestra are one of the UK's most highly regarded vintage ensembles, having sold out numerous shows at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, The London Jazz Festival, Cadogan Hall and more.
