The Big Bear Stompers are the flag wavers of the West Coast Traditional Jazz sound exemplified by Lu Watters and Turk Murphy in the San Francisco area of the USA in the 1940s. The band was founded by Dave Moorwood and trumpeter Clive Whitlock in 1989 and has been blowing up a storm ever since.
The Rascals came into being some 25 years ago and soon developed a very distinct and instantly recognisable sound. They don't fit easily into any obvious category, but provide a refreshing visit to an era of swinging, carefree jazz with a repertoire drawn from Jelly Roll Morton to Duke Ellington and Count Basie, via Fats Waller and John Kirby. The band is tuneful, swings like mad and exudes energy and enthusiasm.
The Rascals are fronted by two superb musicians, Mike Wills and Tony Blincowe, who, between them, play enough reed instruments to stock a shop, cor maybe a museum. The drumless rhythm section consists of Perry Lock on piano, Mike Bennett bass and Dave Moorwood acoustic guitar occasional vocals and arrangements, and was once described by Digby Fairweather as "as springy as a trampoline and as uncluttered as air".
Dave takes great delight in searching for gems amongst the myriad of almost forgotten songs of the 1920/30s, which, over the years, has resulted in a large, varied and unusual repertoire.
International Saxophonist - Sarah, is available for guest appearances or with her own band - Sarah Spencer's Transatlantic Band.

Led by the well known hot traditional jazz cornet player, Dave Stradwick, the Jazz Kings have enjoyed a high level of popularity on the British scene. Dave's chosen musicians are some of the best exponents of the New Orleans jazz style. Their success not only comes from their musical ability, but also the fun and rapport they build with their audiences. Playing at most Jazz Clubs, Festivals and Jazz Breaks around the UK, they also have 2 residencies in Kent and Surrey.
In 2012 Richard Leach’s Street Band came into being when he was asked to provide a strolling traditional jazz ensemble to play at various town centre locations during the annual Food & Music Festival in his home town of Droitwich, Worcestershire.
The infectious two-beat nature of the band’s rhythm is helped along by the inclusion of a sousaphone in it’s lineup and the band is fast gaining fans on the jazz club circuit along with a festival debut at Upton-on-Severn in 2018.
Sarah Spencer's Transatlantic Band is an exciting combination of seasoned veterans and fresh young talent who share their leader's commitment to the music of New Orleans.
