OVERSEAS - FRANCE: Fest Jazz at Châteauneuf-du-Faou - Brittany

FEST-JAZZ 2026 at CHÂTEAUNEUF-DU-FAOU

July 23-26th 2026

Châteauneuf-du-Faou’s history and location in Brittany provide a compelling desire to attract a cultural audience. The town and the surrounding area were a significant magnet for the world-renowned School of Pont-Aven, including Post-Impressionist giants. The painter Paul Sérusier, a co-founder of the avant-garde Nabis movement and a disciple of Paul Gauguin, settled in Châteauneuf-du-Faou in the 1890s and lived there until his death. The town has preserved the memory of his stay. The walls of the Baptistery in the Church of Saint-Julien feature murals painted by Sérusier between 1914 and 1918. A new Sérusier Museum in the town, dedicated to him and his wife, Marguerite. Fest Jazz is not just as a music festival, but a pilgrimage for lovers of the arts. Experience the rhythms of today in the landscape that inspired the masters of yesterday. From Post-Impressionist brushstrokes to New Orleans brass, Châteauneuf-du-Faou is where art comes to life.”

The Idyllic Breton Setting

Châteauneuf-du-Faou sits in the heart of the Finistère department of Brittany, nestled on the banks of the River Aulne. It is overlooked by the Black Mountains (Montagnes Noires) and is a stone’s throw from the magnificent Château de Trévarez, a stunning 20th-century château famous for its gardens. Set on the picturesque banks of the River Aulne with the rolling Black Mountains as your backdrop.

The Gateway to Brittany

The town is located on the famous Nantes-Brest Canal, a peaceful waterway perfect for cycling and boating. Start your Breton adventure from Roscoff (1hr drive) or St. Malo (2.5hr drive). Finish your journey on the tranquil banks of the Aulne River, right in the heart of Brittany’s stunning landscapes.”

The Fest-Jazz Magic Formula

The Fest-Jazz formula is the young, family-friendly, and community atmosphere. ‘The Woodstock of Jazz’ that is ‘More Woodstock, Less Conservatoire’ immediately signals a relaxed, vibrant, and unconventional atmosphere. A festival that truly welcomes all ages. From 8 to 80, Fest Jazz is the most intergenerational music event in Brittany. Bring the kids, teach them to swing! This isn’t your grandad’s jazz festival. The team are proud to be powered by young organisers, young volunteers, and the freshest young talent from the global jazz scene.”

From New Orleans to Châteauneuf-du-Faou
- the world’s hottest jazz meets the warmest Breton Community.

Most of the bands/artists are still to be confirmed, but those announced signal a strong international flavour - Spain, New Orleans, Italy, Netherlands and the UK. This international festival and the local roots dynamic combine to form the secret sauce of success. Over 6,00 attendees visited the 2025 event which is big enough for buzz and small enough for intimacy when hosting world-class, multi-national talent. Dance floors are in place and the music is made for dancing that attracts a widely diverse and energetic crowd.

Get Ready to Swing
