After 60 years this annual South Birmingham event for charity has sadly ended.
The Stomp was a great social event with hundreds of jazzers attending.
It began in 1965, the brainchild of John Minnion, trumpeter, promoter and Jazz Festival organiser (Bude, Keswick etc).
It was held in various venues over the years culminating, for the last ten years, at Kings Heath Cricket Club.
Three or four Midland traditional bands appeared on the main stage and a separate room ran an open jam-session.
Bands were unpaid; all proceeds, around £2000 annually, going to Oxfam.
Local heroes who have given their services free over the years include:
Tommy Burton, George Huxley, Spats Langham, Ken Ingram, Dan Pawson, Gordon Whitworth, Norman Field,
Paul Munnery, Zenith Hot Stompers, and many, many more.
A big thank you should go to the organisers and helpers over the years; Tony Shram, Terry McGrath,
the late Pat McMeakan, Jim Denham, Sheila Fawkes, Dave Wood, Polly Priestley, Graham Smith, Andy Lowe and others.
