Jeremy Huggett

Jeremy (aka Jez) started his musical career at an early age when he learnt flute and piano, later adding saxes and clarinet to his repertoire. Jeremy now plays tenor, alto, soprano & baritone saxes, as well as flute, clarinet, vocals & keyboards. He also writes his own compositions.

Jeremy's early musical career saw him receive a number of awards - 1989 he was nominated by musicians from the famous "Old Duke" in Bristol for a place at Johnny Dankworth's Summer School (Wavendon). In May 1992 he was invited to guest in concert at the Colston Hall in Bristol with the US 76th Army Band and in 1993 he won the award for Best Reed Player in the UK.

Since then, Jeremy's gone from strength to strength, playing with famous names all over the country including Acker Bilk, Digby Fairweather, Cy Laurie, George Melly, Humphrey Lyttleton, Danny Moss, Pete Allen, Tommy Burton, Beryl Brydon, Enrico Tomasso, Jim Fryer, Roy Williams and the list goes on.

In June 1996 Jeremy was invited to play at the world famous Mulberry's 25th birthday celebration where he took part in the birthday show with a band formed especially for the occasion, which consisted of seven other professional musicians, all of whom were selected from the London professional circuit. The band played for celebrities such as Sir Bob Geldof in a show hosted by Anne Robinson from "The Weakest Link", and featuring Boycie from "Only Fools and Horses".

As well as leading his own bands and performing at many of the major jazz venues and jazz festivals both in the UK and abroad, Jeremy has also been in demand working with a number of the UK's top bands.

Jeremy appeared on Sax on live national television launching BBC Music Live with one of his own bands, and has played and been interviewed on live broadcasts on BBC Radio Gloucester and BBC Radio Devon. A number of his bands' CD's have extensive air play on both local and national radio.

In 2006 Jeremy played at the Wedding of actress Hannah Waterman (Laura Beale in "Eastenders") and actor Ricky Groves (Gary Hobbs in "Eastenders"). With "Hello Magazine" having exclusive rights to photos, the guest list included top names of stage and screen including: Dennis Waterman, Patricia Maynard, June Brown (Dot Cotton), Letitia Dean (Sharon Watts), Todd Carty (Mark Fowler), Shane Richie (Alfie Moon), John Baredon (Jim Branning), Kacey Ainsworth (Little Mo Slater) and Cliff Parisi (Minty).Jeremy was recently commissioned by an international music magazine to record a CD of sample sax sounds for distribution worldwide.

As well as playing a wide range of jazz including traditional, mainstream and swing, Jeremy is a very versatile musician playing in a number of other styles including rock & roll, blues, rock and pop.

Since December 2000, Jeremy has been guesting on saxes and flute with legendary rock group, Hawkwind, using the name Jez Huggett, appearing at prestigious venues including London Astoria and Royal Festival Hall, London. He has also featured on live and studio CD�s, "Yule Ritual" & "Take me to your Leader", as well as DVD's of a live concerts. He also appears in their book, "The Saga of Hawkwind".

Jeremy also performs on sax with a DJ playing House music at clubs in the South West, the addition of a live acoustic instrument adding a whole new dimension to the overall sound.
